Mission of Harnett County Reading Council

The Harnett County Reading Council as an affiliate of the NC Reading Council and under the umbrella of the International Reading Association actively promotes lifelong literacy for all citizens commensurate with each individual’s unique capacity. We encourage professional interaction among individuals and organizations involved with literacy to provide resources for exemplary literacy practices and habits.
 

 To promote community and parental involvement in language arts by:

·       Implementing Young Author Project

·       Encouraging reading and a love of books through innovative
    teaching methods

·       Strengthening collaboration with educational professionals and institutions
